This week we are learning the letter “K.” The children sounded out the letter and came up with the following words: kick, kids, king and kangaroo. We looked at images of kings and queens and giggled about the clothes they wore. We made paper crowns and decorated them with jewels. The class thought it would be fun to dress up and have a royal ball. They looked adorable holding hands and waltzing around the room. Ms. Janet and I kept hoping for a handsome prince to ask us to dance.
In P.E. our class had so much fun pretending to walk like alligators and monkeys. They showed great acrobatic skills walking on the balance beam and looked like pros knocking down the bowling pins. Ms. Amanda makes exercising so much fun.
In art we made paper kites and decorated them with tissue paper. We talked about how to fly a kite and even sang the song, “Lets go fly a kite” from the Mary Poppins movie. The kites are displayed on our outside bulletin board, so take a look at the beautiful job our class did the next time you drop your child off at school.
Ms. Janet talked about the laws of gravity and how Sir Isaac Newton discovered gravity sitting under an apple tree. She did an experiment by placing a tablecloth on the table and putting a cup, teapot and a bowl with water on top of it. She then pulled the tablecloth really fast off of the table. Amazingly Ms. Janet stayed dry and all the objects stayed on the table. She is a true magician. Ms. Janet explained this was the law of gravity.
Our class wants to thank Emma’s mom for donating books to our class. We would also like to thank Aaron’s mom for being our mystery reader. The children really enjoyed story time with her.
Andi and Mayer did a great job as our Ema and Abba. Next week our Abba will be Simon and Emma will be our Ema.
Our class has been practicing hard for our Hannukkah program on 12/17/14 at 5;45 p.m. Dinner will be served afterwards and requires reservations. Hope to see you there!
