L’Shana Tova. I hope everyone had a nice holiday. In class we enjoyed apples and honey, yum, to celebrate Rosh Hashanah. The class enjoyed making their own shafar and then getting the chance to blow them. The children also had fun singing the song about dipping apples into honey for a sweet new year.
This week and next week. we are studying the letter “D.” The children named words they knew that started with the “D” sound such as dog, duck, dinosaur and dig. We looked at pictures of different deserts and talked about the animals that lived on them and the desert environment. Did you know that elephants live in the desert? The class was able to name snakes, camels, scorpions and rabbits that make their home in the desert.
Since Tuesday was such a rainy day, we went into the science room and played with bubbles, searched for birds with binoculars, looked through view finders and matched colored gems to a color board, which the whole class was great at.
Ms. Amanda helped our class make replicas of the world using different colored wool. She talked about how earth has different layers like the core, mantle and crust. If you look at the child’s earth wool, you can see the different layers all swirled into one. Next week our Ema will be Andi and our Abba will be Simon.
