This week in Jewish Studies we listened to the story of Noah’s Ark and sang songs about his voyage. Did you know that Noah brought two of each animal onto the Ark and seven of the kosher animals?
We played a memory game where we put seven objects in a bucket. Ms. Janet would sneak and take out one object and then had us guess one by one to see what was missing. Boy are we smart!
Our class did a mitzvah and picked up trash on our school grounds. We found coffee cups, straws, lollipop wrappers and string. Our school looks beautiful and is garbage free!
We used our classroom projector to learn about the differences between frogs and toads. Did you know that toads have teeth and frogs don’t? We also looked at pictures of sharks and fish. Our favorite shark is the nerf shark because he has eyes on the sides of his head. He is so cool looking.
For snack we made Noah’s Ark using pound cake, Hershey candy bars and animal crackers. We loved filling up the Ark with lions, goats and bear animal crackers. The best part was eating the Ark. Yummy!
We took a walk to the pond to feed the fish. We made a new friend, Mr. Turtle, who swam up close to the shore to eat our bread. We could not believe how big he was and agreed that he must eat a lot of bread.
During Science with Ms. Amanda, we talked about Noah’s Ark and how his Ark sailed on top of the water. We then took turns putting in cotton balls, rocks, plastic boats and ducks, petri dishes and ping pong balls into a plastic tub. We had to guess what objects would float on top of the water just like Noah’s Ark.
Our Junior Chefs made corn bread for snack. First we talked about the directions on how to make corn bread. Then we poured the mix into a bowl and added corn and milk. Then the fun part began. We got to stir and stir up the batter. After it baked we all enjoyed our culinary masterpiece. Yum yum.
In Gardening with Ms. Amanda, we had an exciting time planting carrots, radishes and corn. We even got to smell the seeds. Our class corn now has sprouts on it. Wow!
We practiced writing the letter “A” to get us ready to write our alphabet. Check out what an awesome job we did.
During Show-N-Tell, we talked about: Tzedakah, Piggy banks, Flashing wands, Superhero cards, Spider Man, Family pictures and Purses.
10/16/15 – School closed for teacher in service day.
10/29/15 – Petting zoo.
11/12/15 – Guana State Park visit to talk about sea turtles and pollution.
Nikki and Joshua did an awesome job as out Ema and Abba. Next week our Ema is Milly and our Abba is D.J.
Thank you to Zachary’s mom for being our mystery reader. We loved listening to the story about a grumpy kangaroo.
