This week in Jewish Studies we rolled up the Torah on the stories of Adam and Eve and Noah’s Ark. We read a story and sang songs about Avram who was the first Jewish person and his wife Sarah.
We colored a giant picture of Noah’s Ark. The picture was as tall as a giraffe!
In P.E. with Ms. Alyse, we started off with stretches and then practiced our balancing on the balance beams. We had to be very careful not to fall off because there were two hungry alligators named Zachary and D.J. who were waiting to catch us. Yikes! We then practiced throwing balls thru a hula hoop. What fun.
We did a Science experiment in our classroom where we grew beautiful blue crystals. All we had to do was add water and watch the crystals grow. Wow!
We went out to the garden and planted our classroom corn that sprouted. Then we used recycled egg cartons to plant cilantro and dill that we put on a table in our classroom. D.J. said that we were planting a bean stalk. Too cute! We love getting our hands dirty.
We made Noah’s Ark out of paper plates. We colored a beautiful rainbow over our Arks and then put in paper animals to sail in our Ark.
Our Junior Chefs learned how to make scrambled eggs. First we each got to crack an egg into a bowl and then we each took turns scrambling the eggs with a spoon. Then we all sat down to enjoy our delicious eggs.
In Gardening with Ms. Amanda we went out into the garden and planted our own greenhouse. First we got a plastic bag and two paper towels. We put our paper towels into a container filled with water so they could get wet and then added two bean seeds to our plastic bags. We taped them up in our class room window so we can watch them grow. Come look at our green beans the next time you come into our class room. Some of us were brave and wanted to try the lettuce we had growing in our garden. Hannah said she was a little bunny eating lettuce.
We did a Science Experiment in our class room that involved hard boiled eggs, matches and a glass bottle. We took our glass bottle and put four lit matches into it. We then took the egg and placed it in the neck of the bottle. How could this big egg squeeze into the small neck of the bottle? Ms. Janet explained that when you put the egg in the neck of the bottle, you are cutting off the oxygen to the matches, which creates a suction on the egg pulling it into the bottom of the bottle. We were so amazed that we had to do the experiment a second time.
We had a great time in music with Ms. Zina. Some of us went up front to help sing the song ” The lady with the alligator purse.” Our voices sounded great when we all sang together.
During Show-N-Tell we learned about: A butterfly ornament, A witch’s hat, A bouncy ball, A wobbly knight, dragon and princess, A magnetic guitar, A princess Sofia hat, A deer and a ballerina lamb.
Milly and D.J. did a fantastic job as our Ema and Abba. Next week our Ema is Samara and our Abba is Elliott.
Thursday 10/29/15 – Petting zoo visit.
