We have been singing our hearts out and practicing our lines for our much anticipated Shoobee Doobee Shabbat. We have been dancing like trees and stirring our pretend chicken soup and can’t wait to wow you with Tu B’ Shevat program as we celebrate the trees.
In class we have been learning about the human body. We read a book that showed our insides, yuck, and played with a skeleton. Here are some things we learned about our bodies: Our brain is protected inside our skull, our ribs protect our lungs and heart, our bones help us walk, we wear a cast when one of our bones break and blood carries air and food. We really liked looking at our veins on our arms and couldn’t believe how many bones are in our fingers.
We had Ms. Jennie from St. Johns River Keeper come to our school to teach us about our beautiful St. Johns River. Did you know that we have beavers, otters, manatees and herons that live in our river? We were sad to learn that people throw garbage into the river which can make the animals sick. Boo hoo. We promised to always pick up our garbage and throw it away. Ms. Jennie unrolled a giant paper cutout of a manatee so we could see how big a manatee can grow. Some can be 13 feet long. Boy is that big! We learned so much from Ms. Jennie and can’t wait for her to come back to our school.
Matzo. Matzo. Who has the Matzo? We do. We made delicious matzo ball soup in our class. First we added eggs and oil into a bowl. Next we added the matzo mix and stirred it all together. Then we put our mixture into the fridge for twenty minutes. After that we added food coloring and we each rolled out a giant colorful matzo ball to eat in our soup. Yummy!!
During Show – N Tell we learned about: Little bears, A giant bouncy ball, A walking Sylvia doll, An Ultron robot, A Hello Kitty blanket, A puppy, A Sophia necklace and a red rubber ball.
Elliott and Milly did an amazing job as our Ema and Abba. Next week our Ema and Abba are Zachary and Samara.
HEADS UP – We will be sending home an assessment on February 1st for the parents to complete with their child. Please return by February 5th. Thank you in advance.
