This week our class is learning about the letter “N.” The class named words that starter with “N’ such as nuts, nest, north, no, numbers and Noam.
Our class had a blast making elephant toothpaste out of hydrogen peroxide, yeast, liquid soap and food coloring. The children laughed and said it looked like erupting ice cream and felt like a cloud.
We talked about Noah and his Ark. Ms. Janet told the class how Noah was God’s helper and that he was asked to build an Ark. Noah was to fill the Ark with animals because there was going to be a flood. The children had fun coloring a picture of Noah’s Ark with crayons and stickers.
The children had a noisy time with our class instruments. They especially loved the maracas. Ms. Janet taught the class how to make hand held pianos out of cardboard, rubber bands and paper clips. The children were amazed by the sound that the paper clips made when they thumped on them. Do you think this is how Rachmaninov started?
In art we made a winter scene with black paper and white crayons. The class then titled their artwork. Come checkout what your little Picasso created on our outside bulletin board. Be ready to be amazed by the beautiful snowflakes we also made out of coffee filters.
We are getting ready for our school snow day on Tuesday. Our class did teamwork and made a giant Olaf snowman with markers, crayons and paper. He turned out adorable. One of the students said they wished the snowman was real and that they could play with him.
Our class made play dough out of flour, salt, food coloring, water, oil and cream of tartar. They had fun mixing it together and then kneading the dough. We then had everyone make sculptures. Our class got creative making shark boats, a Hanukkah cake and princesses.
Our class sends out a big hug and thank you to Aaron’s mom for donating toys, books and puzzles. It’s always nice to have a new toy to play with.
Thank you to Emma’s mom for being our mystery reader this week.
Madison did a great job as our Ema and Simon was a wonderful Abba. Next week our Ema will be Andi and our Abba will be Mayer.
Classroom reminder: Please remember to send in a bag of cotton balls for our snow day on Tuesday and to have your child wear their pajamas. Even Ms. Janet and I are going to wear our pajamas and slippers. It’s going to be a day full of fun!
