We have been reading books about Thanksgiving. We looked at a globe to see how far the Pilgrims traveled to America. Ask your child if they remember the name of the ship the Pilgrims sailed on. We also learned how the Indians worked with the Pilgrims on how to crow corn and other vegetables. They celebrated by having a big feast that we call Thanksgiving. Yum yum.
In Jewish Studies we are talking about Hanukkah. We sang a song about Judah Maccabee who was a brave soldier who defeated the Greek soldiers. Yay!
In Science with Ms. Amanda, we had a gooey time making Gak. We mixed glue, water, liquid starch and paint together in a metal pan. Then we used are fingers to stir it up. Our hands got so sticky and we loved it! Getting messy is fun.
We had a yummy time making our corn art project. We glued pop corn onto our corn stalk picture. It was fun gluing popcorn and eating it too! What a popping good time. Check out the other masterpieces we made on the bulletin board located outside of our class room.
A big thank you to Ms. Ilene from Guana State Park for coming to our school to teach us about sea life. We got to touch a live sea urchin and a star fish. She showed us a huge crab with big pinchers. Yikes! She taught us about sea turtles. Did you know a leather back turtle can get as big as a car and loves to eat jelly fish? We loved listening to the giant conch shell and holding the huge horse shoe crab. It was so cool putting our heads inside a sharks jaw.We learned so many interesting things today about ocean life and we were so happy to donate money to help out a sea turtle nest.
During Show-N-Tell, we talked about: Mickey Mouse, Golf and bouncey balls, A circus elephant, A fluffy blanket, Tiny cats, and Two tiny dogs.
