Welcome back. We hope everyone had a relaxing winter break and a happy New Year! We missed all of you and are excited about getting back to school.
In P.E. with Ms. Alyse we had a jumping and spinning good time. We all stood on colorful mats that had numbers and ABC’s on them. We then listened and watched a phonics video that instructed us to jump to a letter or reach for the sky while spinning to a letter. It was so much fun exercising our bodies.
We read a giant book about snow and then made snow scenes using black paper and white crayons. Our pictures turned out great and some of them will be hanging on the art wall near the front office. We are so excited about winter time.
In Jewish Studies we sang songs and listened to a story about Tu B’ Shevat which is the celebration of the trees. During our Shoobee Doobee Shabbat on 1/22/16, the Parparim classrooms will be putting on a show for our family members. Come see us dance as trees and birds.
Question of the week: ” What did you do over winter break?”
Zachary – I played with my race cars.
Hannah – I cooked cupcakes, muffins and pumpkin pie.
Elliott – I went to Miami and played in the salty water.
Nikki – I got a boo boo on my hand.
D.J. – I went to Hollywood and played with Sarah.
Samara – I made a snow angel on my carpet.
Joshua – I made a sand snowmen at the beach with daddy.
Milly – I went for ice cream with my grandma.
Elena – I watched Sophia on t.v.
In Science with Ms. Amanda we talked about the word camouflage. We looked at a book that showed different animals hiding. We then chose a cut out animal and a piece of paper to hide our animal on, just like they would do in their habitat. We helped our animals to camouflage on the paper. Way to go Parparim.
We made a giant snowman in our classroom out of paper and then stuffed it with a newspaper. We added eyes, buttons and a carrot nose. Come meet Buttons the snowman the next time you come into our classroom.
Thank you to Ms. Whitney from P.J. Library for reading our class a book about T Bu’ Shevat. We love having her read stories to us.
1/13/16 and 1/14/16 – Snow Days. Wear pajamas to school both days. (Please send in a bag of cotton balls by Tuesday for our snowball fight.)
1/15/16 – No school. Teacher in service day.
1/18/16 – No school. Martin Luther Kings Day.
1/22/16 – Shoobee Doobee Shabbat at 10:00 a.m. All family members are welcomed to sing songs with us as we put on Tu B’ Shevat show for you to honor our trees.
A big birthday hug to ZACHARY who turned the big four on Monday.
During Show – N- Tell we learned about: Sophia the doll, Mechanical ponies, A bucket full of uglies, A beaded necklace, A pup Patrol jacket, A fire truck, A sword, Buttons the horse and A puppy and a panda.
Elena and D.J. did a fantastic job as our Ema and Abba. Our next Ema will be Milly and our Abba will be Elliott on 1/22/16.
A big thank you to Samara’s mom for being our mystery reader. Our class loved the book, Where the wild things are.”
